Equipment in SMART Labs are labeled into 3 main areas:
Active
Equipment Labeled as Active can be booked in the SMART Labs system after a user has been trained. Once trained a user can use the equipment independently without direct supervision.
Special
Equipment Labeled as Special may only be used in collaboration or with direct supervision. To inquire about using it for your project, please make a request.
Service
Equipment labeled as Service will have the work on the equipment done by a member of staff and is a paid service. Please make a request to inquire.
How do I find out what label a piece of equipment has on it?
The label can be found at the top of the specified equipment page.
Some equipment equipment may have multiple labels on it and can both be booked and have a service done on them if it is impractical for the user to be trained to it themselves or only need a few samples to be analyzed.
