Turning On and Shutting Down - SOP

Turning on the system is only required when you are the first user of the day, and shutting down the system is only required when you are the last user of the day.

Section 1: Turning on the system

  1. Open the door and make sure there are no samples loaded on the sample stage

  1. Turn on the air supply

  1. Turn on the main power supply

  1. Turn on the power switch

  1. Turn on the computer and login. Launch the Carbide User App and click the 'connect' button on the bottom right corner of the window. Select desired preset and click 'APPLY PRESET'. Wait for system to initialize. Initialization is complete once the box at the top left corner says 'Operational'

  1. Launch the Process Power application. Login credentials are ‘Alberta’ for both fields. Once the system has initialized, click 'Process Set-up'. Move the Process Power window over so it fills the left half of the bottom display. The OptecCAD application automatically launches when Process Power is launched.

  1. Center the sample stage by jogging the X, Y and Z axis until you can see the sample stage in the live camera view, then load the sample.

Section 2: Shutting Down the System

  1. Click the ‘CLOSE AND DISABLE’ button followed by the ‘STANDBY' button and wait until it says ‘Standing By’ in the top left of the Carbide User App window. Once in ‘Standing By’ mode, click the 'disconnect’ button in the bottom right corner of the window.

  1. Exit out of the Carbide User App, along with the Process Power and AutoCAD application, then sign out of the PC.

  1. Remove sample from sample stage, turn the control switch off, shut off the main power supply and turn off the air supply.
