Loading a DXF File Into OptecCAD

Loading a DXF File Into OptecCAD

  1. Before loading a DXF file into OptecCAD, the laser system must be turned on and ready for use. This process is outline in the following document: Turning On and Shutting Down - SOP

  2. In the OptecCAD window, select the ‘File’ tab at the top left corner of the window, and click the ‘Load’ option, as seen highlighted in Figure 1

Figure 1
  1. As seen in Figure 2, a prompt will appear asking if you wish to save your current file before loading a file. Selecting ‘Yes’ will allow the user to save their current file. Once saved, Figure 3 will appear, allowing the user to select the desired file to be loaded. If ‘No’ was selected for the Figure 2 prompt, Figure 3 will appear without having to save the current file first. When searching for the desired file, ensure that the highlighted portion of Figure 3 says 'DXF File (*.dxf)'. If it does not, click the highlighted portion of Figure 3 and select the appropriate file type from the dropdown menu.

  1. Once the desired file is selected, click the ‘Open' button in the bottom right corner of the window as seen in Figure 3. The OptecCAD window will then display all of the objects that make up the imported DXF file, as seen in Figure 4. By default, it loads all of the objects into layer '0’ of the Layer List. At the same time, all of newly populated objects displayed in the Objects List of the OptecCAD window will also be reflected in AutoCAD, as seen in Figure 5.
