Changing Process Type - Galvo, Stages, IFOV - SOP

This document was created to help users change and understand the process types

The femtosecond laser has 3 modes of processes

  • Galvo

    • Uses mirrors to move the laser beam in the work area

    • Limited to 20 x 20 mm

    • Able to do curves very well

    • Extremely precise

    • Fast (30-500mm/s)

  • Stages

    • Uses mechanical stepper motors to move the platform while the laser beam remains stationary

    • Wide work area 150 x 150 mm

    • Curves may have a small amount of stepping

    • Slow (5-15mms/)

  • IFOV (Recommended)

    • Combines the motion of Galvo and Stages

    • Wide work area 150 x 150 mm

    • Able to do curves very well

    • Can periodically misalign areas (generally very good)

    • Fast (30-500mm/s)
